Privacy Policy

We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it. We do our best to keep your information safe and to use it only in ways that are consistent with this policy and the law.

What we collect

When you sign up or use TutorFlow, we may collect: account information (e.g. name, email, grade, subject preferences), usage data (e.g. questions you ask, notes you save), and technical data (e.g. device type, IP address, browser) that helps us run and improve the service. We use authentication providers (e.g. Clerk) to manage sign-in; their use of your data is governed by their own policies.

How we use it

We use your data to provide and improve TutorFlow (e.g. to answer your questions, save your notes, and personalise your experience), to communicate with you about your account or the service, to analyse usage so we can make the product better, and to comply with the law. We do not sell your personal information to third parties for their marketing.

How we protect it

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and at rest where applicable, secure access controls, and trusted infrastructure. No system is completely secure; we will notify you and the relevant authorities if we become aware of a breach that affects your personal data, where required by law.

Sharing

We may share data with service providers who help us run TutorFlow (e.g. hosting, analytics, payment processing) under strict agreements that limit how they may use it. We may also share data if required by law (e.g. court order) or to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others. We do not sell or rent your personal information.

Cookies and similar technology

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, to remember your preferences, and to understand how the service is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Some features may not work fully if you disable certain cookies.

Children and parents

TutorFlow is aimed at learners in Grades 8 to 12. If you are under 18, we encourage a parent or guardian to review this policy and our Terms of Service with you. Parents and guardians may contact us to ask about the data we hold about their child or to request deletion where the law allows.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under South African law where applicable), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You can update much of your information in your account settings. For other requests, contact us at the email below. We will respond within a reasonable time. You may also have the right to complain to a data protection authority.

Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service and to comply with legal, accounting, or security requirements. When you delete your account or ask us to delete your data, we will do so in line with our retention policy and the law.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and, for material changes, we will give notice (e.g. by email or in the product). Continued use after the change means you accept the updated policy. We encourage you to check this page periodically.
